This section includes indicators on the use of hospital services, as well as on primary and ambulatory care and medicine use. Diagnosis-specific indicators, such as discharges by diagnostic category, are also used to calculate the incidence and prevalence of diseases, as shown in the chapter ‘Health Status'. The addition of the item ‘patient mobility’ reflects the EU dimension of health care utilisation.
Average length of stay (ALOS) and GP utilisation have already been implemented as an EC Health Indicator data presentation.
