This is a special section that provides an overview of indicators on the quality of health systems. It includes issues like patient-orientation and the safety or effectiveness of interventions. These can be expressed in terms of processes or health outcomes. The indicators were chosen in line with the OECD project on Health Care Quality indicators.
Cancer survival has already been implemented as an EC Health Indicator data presentation.

The aim of the HCQI project is to collect internationally comparable data reflecting the health outcomes and health improvements attributable to medical care delivered in OECD countries. The HCQI project responds to the growing interest by healthcare policymakers and researchers in OECD countries in measuring and reporting the quality of medical care.
